The Sitka Community Hospital - Old Diabetes Program has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association as meeting the standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.

Self Management Education

This program enables individuals with diabetes to learn self-care skills that will promote better management of their diabetes treatment regimen. A diabetes nurse educator, along with a registered dietitian, offer individual or group instruction to those persons newly diagnosed with diabetes or those who would like a review.

Getting Started

A physician referral is needed to enroll in the program, so talk to your doctor today about diabetes education. Many insurers pay for diabetes education. Contact your insurance company for more information.
