The Sitka Community Hospital - Old Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed to help patients reach and maintain the healthiest lifestyle possible through exercise, education and support.
About the Program
The program includes a structured, progressive exercise plan, group or individual education and emotional support. The program is run by a Registered Nurse, Exercise Physiologist, and Physical Therapist and is overseen by a Medical Director. During each session the patient's heart rhythm and blood pressures are monitored before, during and after exercise. The sessions occur 3 times per week in the inpatient therapy gym.
Entering the Program
A physician referral is needed to enter the cardiac rehabilitation program. If you are new to Sitka or have been in a rehabilitation program elsewhere, a physician referral is still required. Services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance, depending on your plan's coverage; however, preauthorization is not necessary. Our program is individualized for each person's needs.
Medical conditions most often seen in rehabilitation include:
Heart attack
Angina
Open heart surgery
Post-valve surgery
Post-bypass surgery
Post-stent procedure
Post-angioplasty procedure
